According to the Attorney General of New York, Johnson & Johnson has agreed to pay about $ 230 million to resolve allegations that contributed to the opioid crisis in New York.

The agreement, in response to a claim filed by Attorney General Letitia James, will eliminate Johnson & Johnson as a defendant in an extensive opioid trial scheduled to begin next week.

J & J did not accept liability or misconduct in agreeing to the settlement. The agreement is consistent with previous agreements to pay $ 5 billion to resolve opioid claims by state, city, county and tribal governments across the country.
