East Chicago, Indiana (AP) — A 10-year-old girl and two adults were killed after a minivan was hit by a train in northwestern Indiana.

Police said three boys between the ages of 10 and 7 were sent to the hospital in a Saturday crash in East Chicago at 1 am.

According to police, surveillance videos show that a minivan driver ignored a railroad crossing alarm in operation and drove around a railroad crossing gate when a vehicle collided.

The train pushed the minivan about 200 yards.

In addition to the girl, a 38-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were sentenced to death on the scene.
