Police battle bandits, rescue 11 kidnap victims in Zamfara

The Police Command in Zamfara says it has neutralised a infamous armed bandit in the state and rescued 11 kidnapped victims.

The Command’s Public Relations (*11*), SP Muhammad Shehu, confirmed the event in a press release on Thursday in Gusau.

“Yesterday at about 1 p.m., massive variety of armed bandits blocked Gusau – Sokoto Road at Dogon Karfe axis scaring commuters to scamper for security.

“The Police tactical operatives on patrol alongside the highway rapidly mobilise to the placement.

“On arrival on the scene, the police have been engaged in a gun duel by bandits who already kidnapped harmless commuters and have been about to take them to the forest.

“The operatives gallantly repelled them, deterring the hoodlums from further onslaught on the commuters”, Shehu stated

He famous that in the course of the encounter, one of many bandits was neutralised whereas 11 kidnapped victims have been immediately rescued by the operatives.

”The command is intensifying varied search and rescue methods to securely rescue the remaining victims who have been taken to the forest earlier than the police arrived.

“All the rescued victims have been reunited with their families,” the spokesperson stated.

He, nevertheless, added that the Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Rabiu, had reaffirmed the commitments and dedication of the command to finish the lingering safety challenges in the state.
