There is no apology for the George Floyd family

Minneapolis-Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin condolences to George Floyd’s family on Friday, but did not apologize for his actions that caused Floyd’s death last year. He said he couldn’t speak any further due to other proceedings in progress.

Chauvin’s mother, Floyd’s seven-year-old daughter, Janna, nephew, and brother also spoke.

In April, the jury convicted Chauvin of two murders, three murders, and two manslaughter charges. He could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.

Meanwhile, a small crowd gathered outside the Cup Foods store where Floyd was killed to hear. Some in the crowd were chanting and praying.

Chauvin’s mother testifies that she will be the first in the family to speak on behalf of a former police officer.

Chauvin’s mother, Carolyn Pollenti, testified on behalf of her son. It was the first time a friend or family member spoke to the court on his behalf. She called him “a quiet, respectable, selfless man” and her “favorite son.”
